the basics

what is a Matchmaker?

A friend who picks on your behalf. You invite up to five of them. Each day they see a batch of fifteen profiles and can put up to five of those people forward for you.

can I pick for myself?

No, and that's the whole idea. You never see the queue of profiles. You find out when there's a date in your calendar.

do I have to be single to be a Matchmaker?

No. Matchmaker is a standalone role, so you can use the app only to pick for someone else and never have a dating profile of your own.

what does it cost?

The Sydney pilot is free. Being a Matchmaker is free permanently, and there is no paid option that buys anyone more profiles or more picks.

where can I use it?

Sydney only for now. The pilot is deliberately one city, because matches need enough people nearby to book a real date with.

how old do I have to be?

18 or over. Your date of birth is required when you sign up.

using the app

how do I invite a Matchmaker?

Open the Matchmakers tab and tap invite a Matchmaker. The app creates a link and hands it to your phone's share sheet, so you send it yourself through Messages, WhatsApp or anything else. We never send messages on your behalf and we don't read your contacts.

I was sent an invite link, what now?

Open the link on your phone, create an account with your email, and accept the invite. You'll then see that person's batch each day. You don't need to build a dating profile to do this.

how do I change when I'm free?

Open the Calendar tab, set the days and time ranges that work, and tap Save availability. Dates are booked into the first gap that you and your match both have free, so an empty calendar means no dates.

why haven't I got any matches?

The two usual causes are having no Matchmaker who has accepted yet, and having no availability saved. Both are worth checking before anything else. Beyond that, a match needs one of your Matchmakers to pick someone and one of theirs to pick you, which takes as long as it takes.

can I message someone before the date?

No. A logistics chat opens the day before, stays open until the date happens, and then becomes a read-only archive.

can I remove a Matchmaker?

Yes, any time and without limit. Open the Matchmakers tab, tap the person, and remove them. They stop seeing profiles for you immediately.

safety

how do I report or block someone?

Open the date from your home screen, tap the menu, and choose to report or block. Blocking is enforced on our servers, not just hidden in the app, so a blocked person can never appear to you or be matched with you again. Reports are read by a person.

someone didn't show up

Email us with the date and who it was with. Cancellations and no-shows are recorded and reviewed by a person, not handled by an automated penalty, and you are never penalised for the other person's behaviour.

my account was restricted

You will be told why. Reply to that message and it will be looked at again by a person. Every enforcement decision here is appealable.

deleting your account

You can delete your account yourself, from inside the app. You don't need to email anyone and there is no waiting period.

Open the Profile tab, tap delete account, then confirm with Delete my account. If you only ever used the app as a Matchmaker, the same option is on your Matchmaker profile screen.

Deletion happens immediately and cannot be undone. It removes:

  • your profile, including name, date of birth, gender, occupation, bio, prompt answers and location
  • your photos
  • your availability
  • the messages you have sent
  • the ratings you have left
  • your links to your Matchmakers and to anyone you matchmake for
  • any review you have written about someone else

Your email address is released, so you can sign up again with it later, and the account is locked so it can never be signed into.

Two things are deliberately kept, and neither retains your name, photos or profile content:

  • where you and another person were matched or went on a booked date, a record that the booking happened stays on their side, because it is equally their history
  • safety reports and blocks, whether you filed them or they were filed about you, so that deleting an account can't be used to escape a report

Deleted data may also persist in routine encrypted backups, which are cycled out within 90 days. The full detail is in the privacy policy.
